THE KICK TURN

The kick turn is used to turn in the opposite direction of travel when in tight quarters such as on a trail or steep slop. Here is how it is performed:

From the standing position.............

Lift one ski (the downhill ski when on a slope) on its tail.

Pivot the ski on its tail in the opposite direction of travel.

The feet are now pointing in opposite directions.

Lift the trailing ski..........

..........and place it in the new direction of travel.
